Biography
I am an award-winning journalist, editor and academic researcher. I hold a PhD in Gender and Cultural Studies, and am passionate about gender equity and social justice, particularly in sport. In 2019 I won the VicHealth award for Outstanding Reporting of Women's Sport, an award I was Highly Commended for in 2018. In 2019 I was also short-listed for a Quill Award for Excellence in coverage of Women in Sport, while my AFLW radio show, Kick Like A Girl (RRR), was shortlisted for Excellence in Sports Programming at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia awards. As a freelance journalist, I'm a founding member of Siren: A Women in Sport collective, and continue to make regular appearances on ABC TV and radio among others. I have also worked as a media consultant, including for VicHealth where an external evaluation listed the value of my media strategy on the National Community Attitudes Towards Violence against Women Survey (NCAS) as $4.1M (a reach of 10 million people).
