Kath M. Cortez is a senior writer for an online news outfit DavaoToday.Com covering Mindanao minorities affected by war and conflict, the environment, and local legislations. Her journalism career started as a radio reporter for Radyo Ni Juan Network from 2013 to 2015 and became the youngest station manager of 107. 9 One Radio South Central Mindanao from 2015 to 2017. She also heads the News and Current Affairs division of Radyo ni Juan Network from 2017 to 2018. In 2018, she was first elected as a member of the Board of Directorate of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) and was re-elected in 2021 as the national Vice-Chairperson of the organization. At present, she also holds the position of the National Safety Officer of NUJP documenting attacks against the press. She is also a member of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television- Philippines and the Altermidya Network (People’s Alternative Media Network), a network of independent and progressive media outfits, institutions, and individuals in the Philippines.
