Biography
I cover tax. I write stories about tax and the tax profession for Bloomberg Tax, and I help tax professionals share their stories. I also write and host the Taxgirl podcast, which lives on the popular Taxgirl blog at www.taxgirl.com, consistently recognized by the ABA Journal as one of the top blogs written by lawyers. I am licensed to practice law in PA and in the U.S. Tax Court. I still give interviews and speak as much as my schedule will allow. Before Covid, you might have seen (or heard) me in Lisbon where I spoke about tax evasion and sports (with an emphasis on soccer), or in Vegas at the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) where I opened the conference addressing challenges in the tax profession. Before moving to Bloomberg, I wrote about taxes for Forbes. I published four books together with Forbes, including the best-selling "100 Things You Need To Know About Money." As a freelance writer, I authored pieces for Trulia, Reuters, Time, and AOL’s WalletPop, and was asked to describe taxes in plain English by such media outlets as Esquire, National Public Radio’s Marketplace, CBS Radio’s Marketwatch, BBC, Inc., and the Philadelphia Inquirer. I'm a graduate of Meredith College and earned my law degree and my Masters of Law in Taxation from Temple University School of Law. I'm also a mom to three children, so I should really add coffee drinker, cupcake baker, dirt lover, and sports mom to my resume.
