Biography
"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world." John Keating spoke these words in Dead Poets Society, a film I first saw as a high school junior. My perception of the world was confined to 6.26 square miles of land, nestling a small city in Upstate New York. I was hungry for a change of pace, desperate to leave behind the monotony of small town living. I was searching for something greater than myself. I have but a small voice in the grand scheme of the world, but I also firmly believe that it only takes one voice, one story, one moment of extreme courage, to ripple the greater tides and shed light on the lives whose stories are worth telling. From covering the Women's March on Washington in January 2017, to dedicated most of my writing efforts to advancing intersectional gender and LGBTQ+ causes, I hope that every story I write — no matter how successful it is or how many reads it gets — has the opportunity to make someone think, "finally, someone understands." I became a journalist not because of the desire for Pulitzer prizes or esteemed praise. I became a journalist because I am an introverted person with extroverted ambitions. I wanted to immerse myself in the world by seeing it through the eyes and experiences of others.
