Indian Country Today

Indian Country Today (ICT) is an independent, nonprofit multimedia news organization dedicated to serving Indigenous communities. Founded in 1981 as the Lakota Times by Tim Giago in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, ICT has grown into a prominent source of news that amplifies Native voices and perspectives. It is operated under IndiJ Public Media, a public charity, since March 2021. ICT publishes a range of content, including news articles, features, and multimedia focused on Indigenous issues such as politics, culture, and environmental matters. The organization also distributes content through public television stations and is known for its in-depth reporting on tribal governance and contemporary Native American life. With a commitment to editorial independence, ICT aims to provide accurate and culturally informed coverage for Indigenous communities, policymakers, educators, and the general public.
