Biography
I am a general assignment reporter with the News-Graphic in Georgetown, Ky., where I primarily cover education, business, police and fire news, fiscal court and local city council. But I am always look for new opportunities and topics to report on in the area. Previously, I worked as a public relations assistant with a legal services firm in Chicago and taught English in Madrid for six months after completing my master's degree in journalism from DePaul University. While in graduate school, I also did an internship with WGN News. I received my bachelor of the arts degree in journalism from Eastern Kentucky University. During which, I completed two full-time internships with local newspapers: The Citizen Voice & Times, a weekly newspaper in Irvine, Ky., and The Winchester Sun, a daily newspaper in Winchester, Ky. While completing my undergraduate coursework, I also served as managing editor for the student publication, The Eastern Progress. Following graduation, I worked full-time for several months as a general assignment reporter for The Advocate Messenger, a daily newspaper in Danville, Ky., before moving to Chicago to further my education. During my time working on The Eastern Progress, I placed in several collegiate categories at the Kentucky Press Association's Excellence in Kentucky Newspaper awards, including a first place award for Best Editorial Page. I also served as Vice President of EKU's Society of Professional Journalist chapter and Secretary Treasurer of DePaul's chapter.
