Biography
L’Monique King is an unapologetically Black lesbian womanist with an adept skill for advocacy, edutaining, public health administration, DEI training and just about anything that requires her to run her mouth. With a dream of using language to foster positive change Ms. King is also the founder and CEO of Talking Sheets Enterprises, LLC; a DEI & Marketing company. As an advocate, educator and author L’Monique has consistently worked within arenas that promote and facilitate equity for underserved populations. Whether speaking or writing, sharing while prompting critical thought and growth is more than a passion. L’Monique is a journalist who proudly writes for QNotes News (the LGBT paper of the Carolinas), is a most read peer review journal contributor and the author of From Collards to Callaloo: Poems & Letters to Assata; a scintillating and cathartic collection of poems and letters written to the granddaughter she’s never met. It is a journey of healing she’s bravely shared with the world (a few years back) with the hope that it will one day land in the hands of the granddaughter she’s yet to meet. In the meantime, L’Monique – a purple loving soul who just knows she must have been a butterfly in a former life; continues to be the voice of the voiceless, advocating for the oppressed and marginalized with love, education and equity as her guide.
