Laura Lyon is an associate editor for Florida Trend. She writes the magazine’s monthly Around the State Southwest column and covers a wide variety of business topics. Lyon joined Florida Trend in 2023, after working in the Innovative Education department at the University of South Florida. Prior to her time at USF, she worked as a freelance photographer on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C and interned at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum. Lyon graduated from American University in Washington, D.C in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
