The GroundTruth Project

The GroundTruth Project is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit news organization dedicated to enhancing journalism through on-the-ground reporting and supporting emerging journalists. Founded in 2014 by Charlie Sennott, it focuses on systemic issues and multimedia storytelling. The organization runs several key programs, including Report for America, which places journalists in local U.S. newsrooms to cover underreported communities, and Report for the World, which supports journalists in 25 countries. GroundTruth also offers journalism training through mentorship and fellowships, and produces long-form investigative reports and documentaries that highlight global issues. GroundTruth operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, funded through philanthropy and grants. It partners with newsrooms to improve reporting capacity and promote sustainable fundraising strategies. The organization aims to empower journalists and advance equity in journalism, fostering informed communities through trustworthy local reporting.
