I am a journalist covering regional and indigenous politics and civil society in Russia for The Moscow Times. Prior to joining the publication, I worked as a geopolitical risk analyst covering REECA and the Middle East. I have extensive experience conducting data-driven research and analysis on geopolitics and civil society mobilization in Russia, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. As an ethnic Tatar hailing from the republic of Bashkortostan, I am deeply passionate about advancing and protecting the rights of indigenous peoples colonized by Russia. Through my public engagements and scholarly work I aim to bring the world’s attention to the issues of systemic violations of the rights of Russia’s indigenous communities and ethnic minorities by the Kremlin.
