The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is a prominent alliance of public service media organizations, established on February 12, 1950. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the EBU includes 123 member organizations from 56 countries and 31 associate members from 20 additional countries. The official languages of the EBU are English and French, with leadership provided by President Delphine Ernotte and Director-General Noel Curran. The EBU offers various services that enhance collaboration and content distribution among its members. This includes the Eurovision and Euroradio Networks for live broadcast sharing, the Eurovision News Exchange for daily news footage sharing, and the Eurovision Social Newswire for verified eyewitness media from social platforms. The EBU also produces significant events like the Eurovision Song Contest and Eurovision Debates for European Commission presidential candidates. Collectively, EBU members reach over 1.06 billion people worldwide, operating nearly 2,000 channels and services in 153 languages, contributing to a diverse and rich media landscape.
