Biography

Lorenzo Morales is a Colombian free-lance journalist, editor and professor at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. Lorenzo is currently the editor of the Fondo ODS , a fund to finance and mentor reporters in Latin America interested in reporting about sustainable development in the region. Lorenzo was editor of Semana.com, the main political newsmagazine website in Colombia and producer of Colombia´s National Public Radio investigative unit. He worked as a reporter for El Diario La Prensa, a daily newspaper in New York City covering immigration and politics and collaborated with WNYC, the local public radio in the same city. He has an M.S. degree in journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a masters degree from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Toulouse, France. He has won twice (2001 and 2019) the Simón Bolívar Award, Colombia´s most prestigious journalism award. Recently, he participated in the team that produced part of the Newsy+Bellingcat series that won a Scripps Howard Award in the innovation category.
