Nasci em Itabira, Minas Gerais, em 1984, cidade onde comecei a trabalhar na adolescência no jornal O Cometa Itabirano. Desde então, sempre como repórter, trabalhei em Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Nova York, São Paulo e Buenos Aires, onde fui correspondente da Folha de S.Paulo. Também passei uma temporada em Moçambique colaborando na formação de jornalistas. Baseado em Roma desde 2018, escrevo para veículos como Folha, BBC Brasil, Valor Econômico, Agência Pública, Época, Piauí e Galileu.
