Born in Manchester, UK, I hold a BA hons in journalism and a post graduate diploma in magazine journalism. I worked as senior writer and editor of B2B hospitality and property titles in Manchester for four years before leaving my rainy home town for sunny Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2006. I carved a niche as a Brazil-based travel writer for Fodor's, USA Today, Rough Guides, and others, before moving to Portugal in 2015. I have written widely about Portuguese and Brazilian food, culture, activities and attractions for the likes of Time Out, BBC Travel, Vice, Atlas Obscura, Fodor's, Culture Trip, and EasyJet Traveller.
