Biography
BBC Radio 5 Live Young Commentator of the Year: In 2016, I reached the final of BBC Radio 5 Live Young Commentator of the Year competition by submitting my piece of commentary on an FA Cup final goal to a panel of BBC commentators to judge. In reaching the final of this competition my piece of commentary was played on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Breakfast show. Shadowing a Daily Mirror Football Journalist: I shadowed a Daily Mirror Football Journalist at two Burnley player and manager press conferences at the club’s training ground as well as at a match in the press box at Sheffield Wednesday in their game versus Luton Town. Tranmere Rovers FC Matchday Programme: I have written for the Tranmere Rovers matchday programme since September 2019. I have previously written The Visitors’ Page in the programme and I currently write a regular feature called TRFC Transcontinental, based on my own idea of writing about a different international player who has played for Tranmere Rovers in each edition of the programme. Late Tackle Magazine: I have had three of my articles published in worldwide football magazine Late Tackle, including an opinion piece on Sheffield United’s slow start to the Premier League season in 2020/21. Your Office and PA: In between completing sixth form and starting college I worked as a call handler for telephone answering service Your Office and PA. My responsibilities were to provide a friendly voice when answering the phone and take the caller’s details and concise notes of why they called. NCTJ Level 5 Diploma: I have just completed my NCTJ Level 5 Diploma at The City of Liverpool College. The units I studied were Media Law, IPSO, Video Journalism, Court Reporting, Public Affairs, 60 WPM Shorthand, and e-Portfolio. During my time on the course I completed work experience at the Liverpool Echo and I had a story published on their website. Liverpool FC Matchday Programme: I had an article featured in the Anfield Review section of the Liverpool FC Matchday Programme for the match against Manchester United on 19/04/2022. Before writing, I was briefed about the style of article that the Anfield Review feature usually consists of. I followed this brief whilst injecting my own writing style to the feature. The Anfield Wrap: I had two weeks of work experience at The Anfield Wrap during my time at university. I wrote numerous pieces of content for their website, some of which were my own idea, some requested by the Editor. I sat in on numerous podcasts and video shows gaining an insight into how their content is produced. I also subtitled one of their videos whilst I was there. Liverpool Echo: I had four days of work experience at the Liverpool Echo where I wrote multiple trends writer pieces per day to a highly accurate standard. Whilst I was there I interviewed an expert on Burnley FC to go into a piece about Sean Dyche, thus showing my ability to network and build contacts. University of Chester: During my time at university I utilised my list of contacts and added to them whilst curating my articles. During my first year I wrote interesting pieces and interviewed people like: Brendan Marks (UNC Basketball and Duke correspondent for The Athletic), Declan Weeks (Chester FC player), Calum McIntyre (Chester FC Manager), and Paul Bowers (Green Party Councillor). I also successfully liaised with press offices at Chester FC and Greenpeace to help me with my stories. Also in my first year I live tweeted a match at Chester FC while making notes to write a full report afterwards. I created a myriad of audio, video, and written pieces, building upon my knowledge of these mediums and Adobe programs. UK Tar Heel: I create content regularly for my blog, which commentates on North Carolina basketball, in my free time. Having my own platform has enabled me to improve my knowledge of Adobe systems, including using it to create my own logo, and Wordpress which is what my site runs on. Skills : Skilled writer with proven track record of delivering to deadlines, good knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, and Wordpress as well as other software, good knowledge of SEO, 60WPM Shorthand.
