NJ Spotlight

Launched in 2010, NJ Spotlight publishes daily, original stories, centered on news and policy issues, with a focus on education, energy, state finance and healthcare. NJ Spotlight won the Online News Association's 2011 award for "General Excellence." Earlier this year, NJ Spotlight won recognition from the state chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the national Education Writers Association. NJ Spotlight has content and on-air commentary partnerships with a variety of media partners, including The Star-Ledger/NJ.com, Philly.com, WNYC Radio, WHYY/NewsWorks, New Jersey News Commons, The Hechinger Report, NJTV and Patch.com. NJ Spotlight also convenes the NJ Spotlight Roundtable Series, public forums that bring together expert panelists to discuss important policy issues of the day. Spotlight Roundtable topics have included solar energy, wind energy, charter schools, teacher evaluation, Medicaid waivers, ‘smart growth,' and health insurance exchanges. We are funded through a blended business model that combines foundation support with advertising, sponsorships and customized products, including the Roundtables and webinars. NJSpotlight funders include: The Knight Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Community Foundation of New Jersey, the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, the Geraldine R.
