María del Carmen Amado came to United States 31 years ago, full of dreams. She’s dedicated to journalism for the last 35 years, 30 years of them covering local community news at the New York Metropolitan Area. In the United States, Maricarmen (her nickname) began her career at El Nuevo Hudson (Spanish edition /Jersey Journal) as a community news reporter. Then at WADO Radio (Univision) as a New Jersey Correspondent, then as a producer. Then she moved to Noticias 1380 24 Hours News Radio in NYC, as news editor, managing a large team of reporters and stringers. She has also been in the television as the producer at HITN for two years, making her and her Team win the Great Apple Award for the best New York City Community Television Program, presented by Mayor Rudy Giuliani. As part of her career, she joined: Tiempos del Mundo and Telemundo47, as a headline anchor representing Hoy New York, and she did three years of service for EFE News Services, covering the beat of Albany, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. She is very happy to have served at Hoy New York as an Associate Editor and Assignment Editor, where she helped to important coverages such 9/11, AA 587 Flight Tragedy in Queens, and has intensively covering immigration issues and the lives of Latinos in NYC. Prior to these positions in 2009, she was named the editor in Chief for Orale New York, a weekly newspaper launched in New York City by a Mexican professionals with the support of the New York Daily News. She is the founder of print and digital newspapers in New Jersey and New York, and directs newspapers, uniting her extensive experience as a journalist and editor, in addition to her business experience achieved in large companies such as the Raffo-Romero Group, in her country Peru, in her youthful years. In New York, in 2011, she was named regional director of New York Press Association, and has been board member in a couple of Non-Profit organization such El Centro Hispano Inc, in White Plains and Community Resource Center, in Mamaroneck, both in Westchester County, New York, where currently she is the member of the Human Rights Commission since 2021. Before to arrive in New York, in Perú, Marícarmen Amado has worked as a news reporter for the largest Peruvian nationwide broadcasting RPP Group where she also was the host of the political radio magazine “When the journalists talk”. then she did as a news political writer, investigative reporter for Ayllu newspaper under the direction of Guillermo Thorndike, in Lima.
