Biography

Marisa has ten years of teaching experience, including six years at Brooklyn Guitar School and its parent company New York City Guitar School. While there, she helped jumpstart the adult-performance showcase program and organize the kids’ showcases. She taught vocals and guitar at Brooklyn’s Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls and the Rock N’ Roll Camp for Girls in Portland, Ore., and specializes in bringing students from the classroom to the stage. Before becoming a mom, Marisa played guitar as a solo artist and with her various bands all over the country, from Las Vegas to New Orleans to Newport, Rhode Island. She also possesses a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, and has written for the Village Voice, Washington Post, Metromix NYC, On Tap magazine, LearnVest, DailyCandy, and other media outlets.
