Biography

Award-winning book author, mental health therapist, and disability rights advocate Max Guttman, LCSW, is working hard to advance mental health reform. Discharged from Greater Binghamton State Hospital Center in July 2008, Max's Recovery was swift but not painless and indeed brutal after spending six months there. After his discharge, he returned home to Westchester to recover from Schizophrenia. Today, Max continues to be the recipient of services for his illness in Westchester and works alongside his peers to thrive in his Recovery and help others do the same. Mr. Guttman is the owner of Recovery Now, a private psychotherapy practice. Recovery Now provides telehealth psychotherapy to people from walks of life and diagnoses. Max's real passion is blogging on mental health. His site https://mentalhealthaffairs.blog The blog features articles from many people with lived experiences struggling with a mental health disorder.
