I write about education issues affecting students and their families for the Education Lab at The Dallas Morning News. I previously covered education and children's issues in Nashville, Tennessee and across the South for The Tennessean and the USA TODAY Network. My coverage included a focus on K-12 education and policy, teaching and learning, higher education, early childhood education, workforce development, equity and disparities within education, and the COVID-19 pandemic's most urgent and long-term impacts on children. Before joining The Tennessean, I covered education in Southeast Tennessee for the Chattanooga Times Free Press. I previously worked as a digital producer for the USA TODAY Network in Florida for both The Fort-Myers News-Press and The Naples Daily News. During my time on the digital team, I developed a passion for not only covering trending and breaking news but also for diving into analytics, optimizing stories to increase their reach across platforms, increasing audience engagement and maximizing readers' experiences — in hopes to ultimately convert them to paying subscribers. I also have experience managing student journalists across a multi-platform newsroom, conducting academic research and leading newsroom-wide training and projects on topics including election coverage, social media verification and various reporting tools.
