Biography

I am a first-generation immigrant and senior studying journalism and international studies at American University. My passions include immigration and crime reporting, and I also see myself overall facilitating the representation of marginalized communities. I am currently an investigative reporter for The Eagle, AU’s award-winning student newspaper, and before that I was a news staff writer covering campus life, the administration and local news. I have over five years of experience working in the service industry. Outside of work, I’m a lover of hikes, sunsets, and afrobeats. When I’m not reading books or looking up new soup recipes, you can find me cuddled up with my cat or watching Sister Wives.

The American University Eagle, commonly known as The Eagle, is the student-run newspaper of American University in Washington, D.C. Established in November 1925, it serves as the primary news source for the university community, covering campus affairs, local events, and national topics relevant to students. The Eagle transitioned to dual print and online formats in 2001, focusing on daily digital content while producing two special print editions each semester. The Eagle is fully student-managed, ensuring editorial independence and adherence to journalistic standards. It reports on various topics, including campus developments, administrative changes, and student life. The newspaper also publishes commemorative print issues and maintains a digital archive of all its issues since 1925, accessible through the university library. The Eagle primarily serves undergraduates, faculty, and alumni, while occasionally addressing broader D.C.-area readers.
