Biography
I have worked in private practice, academia, military medicine, and in austere low-resource settings. I am associate professor of neurology and medicine at New York Medical College (NYMC), where I am also Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion and Associate Dean for Student Affairs. I am Chief of Neurology at WMCHealth’s Good Samaritan Hospital, past President of the New York State Neurological Society, and I am board-certified in neurology, epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology, brain injury medicine and public health. I also serve as Chief Medical Officer for a major Command in the US Navy Reserves. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University, MD from NYMC, and an MPH from Columbia University. I did my residency and fellowship training at Columbia University. I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals to show them how to provide culturally humble care for our increasingly diverse patient population. I am also a PD Soros Fellow and part of the OpED Project's Public Voices Fellowship. The views expressed in my articles are my own and do not represent any institutions that I serve.
