South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC)

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is the public broadcaster of South Africa, established in 1936. It is one of the largest state-owned enterprises in the country and the biggest state broadcaster in Africa, headquartered in Johannesburg. The SABC operates under the Public Finance Management Act and is governed by the Broadcasting Act of 1999. The SABC provides a variety of services, including 19 radio stations that cater to all 11 official languages of South Africa, and six television channels offering news, entertainment, and educational programming. In November 2022, the SABC launched SABC+, a streaming service that allows users to access its content online. The organization aims to inform, educate, and entertain the public while ensuring broadcasting access to all citizens across South Africa.
