Biography
With many years of travel writing under my bling-y belt, I understand the expectations of the leisure traveler and write to those expectations. From destinations to cruises to tours and resorts, my articles cover the world; across the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, South America, the Mideast, Central America and Europe. My platforms include: SheBuysTravel.com (formerly Traveling Mom) Splash Magazines Worldwide, Family Travel with Colleen Kelly blog, and more. My work has also appeared in Travel Awaits, UrbanMatter.com/Chicago, Orbitz.com, Travelocity.com, Food Wine Travel, Red Tricycle, Boomer Magazine, DeSoto Magazine and Modern Jewish Experience, Highland Park Landmark, JUF News, Travel Ticket and more. Previous to this, I wrote a monthly travel column for the What's Happening group of newspapers in the upscale suburbs of Chicago for 3 1/2 years. In addition, I also served as the Chicago Upscale Travel Examiner as well as wrote for other online travel sites such as resident.com, New York Lifestyles Magazine, Business Travel Destinations, offbeattravel.com and thevacationgals.com. You'll also find my stories in Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times, USA Today, Lakeland Boating, Inside Publications, Long Island Woman, Family Time Magazine, six-00-three-five and Highland Park Landmark. My expertise also extends to the travel trade with articles in Group Tour Magazine and Connect Magazine. In the past, I worked as Managing Editor for Travel Today, an insert into the Chicago Sun-Times from 1998-2002 and also served as Travel Editor for five years of Suburban Woman North Shore and City Woman Chicago. See samples of my work at miratemkintravel.com. I hold a B.A. in Advertising from Michigan State University.
