Biography

Want a politically-astute, policy-grounded view on the issues others treat as mere 'lifestyle' topics? From gender issues and mental health, to tech surveillance and Tory sleaze, with more than a decade's journalism experience in the international media, commission me to speak or write, and I will express myself with flair, verve, and confidence on TV, radio, in print, or digitally. I've been a regular newspaper reviewer for Sky News for more than a decade, and now debate everywhere from BBCR2 The Jeremy Vine Show to GB News. For Also Festival and Salon London, I've interviewed everyone from award-winning Cryptoqueen podcaster Jamie Bartlett to Stanford professor Carole Robin. As well as presenting for BBC Radio 4 and the World Service, I'm a former Men's Health columnist, Guardian CiF regular, and was one of Bustle.com's inaugural writers. I've written two books; a memoir, 'Bound To You' (Hodder), and social history 'The Curious History of Dating: From Jane Austen to Tinder (Little, Brown), and am currently writing my third book, a psychosis memoir.
