In 2012 Nick returned to Channel 10 for the position of field reporter, first at the political desk, and then the criminal desk. Kolyohin became a specialist in investigative journalism. Using false identities, he infiltrated various establishments that typically barred the media. By using concealed recording equipment he documented and brought to broadcast exclusive video footage from these investigations. In 2014, Kolyohin started to work as Deputy Editor of the main news edition of Channel 10, and in early 2015 he became the channel’s correspondent for science, technology and environment issues. In addition to career in the media world, Nick studied acting for three years, one year was at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio. In 2018, he started his work as correspondent in Israel with Xinhua News Agency. Publications and journalistic achievements During his career as the reporter on Channel 10, Kolyohin obtained an exclusive interview with the hostage rescued from the Bank Hapoalim murder spree in Be'er Sheva. Among his other investigations and stories are: documentation of the abusive transportation of calves for slaughter from Europe to Israel; exposing the payment for votes in the Israel Beiteinu party; research about the industry of lies in polling and survey companies; documented cases of racism among the fans of Beitar Jerusalem; documentation of the fight between the Chief of the Israel Security Agency (Shabak) and teenagers; exposure of hazardous radiation at a school; research about illegal private midwife services provided in hospitals; exposure of the mortgage scams in banks aimed towards new immigrants; documentation of teenagers getting drunk after illegally purchasing alcohol; a series of reports on unsolved murders; an interview with the Head of the NASA. In March of 2014, Kolyohin flew alone with hidden recording equipment to Istanbul, Turkey. Under a false identity, he penetrated the hospital in which an international organ trafficking network was operating. The network lured 18-year-old girls from Israel to come to Turkey, in order to harvest their organs for thousands of dollars. Kolyohin documented the Mafioso in the hospital, and at one point, when the members of organ trafficking network caught onto him and began to threaten he was forced to flee, as he rescued the material recorded with a hidden camera. The Israeli Defense Ministry was constantly on the phone line with Kolyohin, and the Turkish security forces were also updated about the situation. Finally, he took off back to Israel with the footage he obtained, which was then broadcasted on the main edition of Channel 10 news (Investigative reportage about organ trafficking in Turkey, and interview with Nick Kolyohin on his exclusive reportage about organ trafficking in Turkey), following which Interpol arrested the organ traders. The fans on the bus attacked Kolyohin and threatened to lynch him if he would not let them search him and see whether he recorded them. Kolyohin escaped from the bus that had about 60 members of La Familia group on board, and managed to extract the memory card that held the documentation of the bus ride that was broadcasted on the main edition of Channel 10 news. The footage demonstrated La Familia members praising Yigal Amir – the murderer of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, and in addition bullying everybody around them, especially Arabs [3]. In July of 2015, stories by Nick Kolyohin were broadcasted in the main edition of Channel 10 news throughout an entire week. The ministry had established a national control and supervision center, which installed cameras monitoring all slaughterhouses and abattoirs in Israel and is staffed by volunteers together with professional workers who supervise 24/7 to prevent repeat incidents. Since 2018 the stories he makes for Xinhua News Agency are published in big news outlets around the world.
