I help people understand the dynamic technology policy space via reporting, opinion pieces, public speaking, workshops and organising events. I do capacity building for making the Internet open, fair, global and competitive. I look for roles that allow me to build or help build organizations that make a difference, have a very strong ethical backbone, and involve people from diverse backgrounds working with a sense of purpose. My work is at the intersection of the Internet, business, technology and civil liberties: At MediaNama, we have created a body of work around privacy, free speech and digital rights, and coverage of sectors including e-commerce, digital payments, digital media, ecommerce and telecom. Our coverage of technology policy is among the best in the world. I'm also a founding member of PEN Delhi. I started, led and saw to its conclusion, the SaveTheInternet campaign for Net Neutrality in India, which is the largest grassroots campaign in the history of India (1+ million participants). The campaign led to the creation of the strongest net neutrality regulations in the world. At the TED Summit in 2019, I conducted a Discovery Session (workshop) on "How to build a movement", and was the founding Chairperson of the Internet Freedom Foundation. In addition to this, * I've had the honor of deposing before multiple Government Committees in India, as well as in several public policy consultations. In Sepember 2020, I deposed before both Parliamentary and Delhi State committees on the issues related to regulating Facebook. * I've written several columns related to technology policies in leading publications * I am regularly invited to share my views on several TV channels * I've given talks at top global universities, including Stanford, Harvard, Columbia and Oxford. Awards: - I'm a TED Fellow and an Asia21 Fellow - I was named one of India Today magazine's Indians of tomorrow. - MediaNama was named as an Ecosystem Builder as a part of the "40 under 40" awards from Fortune Magazine Specializations: Technology Policy, Technology businesses, India, Content, Community Building, Media Businesses.
