Biography

I'm an award-winning journalist who has been reporting on San Francisco issues for over a decade. My work explains key civic issues, especially within the dual crises of housing and homelessness, to reveal where things are broken and what might fix them. I go deeper than the rest. My journalism has reset the public narratives about San Francisco's downtown crisis and what that portends for the city's future; a possible solution to that crisis; the inadequacy of local and state rent-assistance programs during the pandemic; and the effectiveness of much-lauded innovations in homelessness services, to name a few. Though I've worked at the city's paper of record, I've spent most of my career punching up from plucky, startup newsrooms. That required building a diverse skill set in addition to reporting and editing: project management, workflow management, logistics, coordination and training.
