Norman Goh is currently the correspondent with Nikkei Asia based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He joined the publication since March 2023. With nearly a decade of experience in journalism. He covers current affairs, international relations, politics, business and finance. He was formerly the Press and Information Officer at the Delegation of the EU to Malaysia, and also the Special Functions Officer to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia. Norman started his journalism career at Malaysiakini in 2014 and has written for South China Morning Post, Channel News Asia, Vice News and also as a fact-checking journalist at AFP. Norman graduated with a Masters in Public Policy from University of Malaya in 2022. He is also a registered nurse in Singapore and Malaysia, holding a Bachelor of Nursing from University of Malaysia Sarawak. He was a speaker during the WAN-IFRA conference on audience intelligence and facilitated sharing experiences with Tempo and Suara.com in Indonesia on social media management, election reporting, and newsroom management. Norman has also trained editors and journalists on social media strategies for newsrooms in Myanmar under the MDIF banner in 2017. Being a trained nurse was an invaluable experience to assess, analyse and view many aspects in journalism and politics, how both converge together in a bigger picture of ensuring efficient policies and good, credible governance to the society.
