He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature-in-English from Obafemi Awolowo University and has since established himself as a reputable figure in the media industry. Currently, Lawal serves as the Head of the Current Affairs and Politics Desk at Legit.ng, where he applies his expertise to provide incisive coverage of events. He is a certified fact-checker, having completed Africa Check’s Post-Election Fact-Checking/Verification Training in 2019 and the Dubawa Fact-checking fellowship in 2020. Lawal also participated in the Facebook For Elections’ Journalism Training in 2019 and was a member of the Solutions Journalism Africa fellowship for Newsrooms in 2022. The AFP-certified journalist has interviewed a number of world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as top political figures in Nigeria.
