Biography
I am originally from Sunderland, in the North East of England, but I have travelled across the UK and beyond since. I attended Coventry University to study English & Journalism. I completed my degree and achieved an upper 2:1 classification. In my dissertation, I wrote a series of journalistic articles on the 1984-85 Coal Miners strike, for which I achieved a first. I have written freelance pieces for many publications, including A Love Supreme, Roker Report, The University Paper, Refresh Magazine, Tribune and The Northern Echo. I also wrote a piece for the Stuttgart University magazine during a six month study in the German city. I also have some experience with radio journalism. I had three weeks work experience at Metro Radio in Newcastle, three months of creating and presenting an international show from Stuttgart University and a further three months creating and presenting a show on Coventry University's radio station in my final year of study. I started my current job as a reporter at the Cambrian News in Aberystwyth, Wales, in October 2019. During this time I have covered the General Election in the Dwyfor Meirionnydd seat, the impact of coronavirus on society and many other subjects. A project which I have also recently completed is a fiction novel based on the 1984-85 Miners' Strike. This was a passion project of mine and I was immensely proud when I found a publisher who wanted to publish it for me. My first book was written during the pandemic. Titled 'On a Hiding to Nothing: 25 years at Sunderland AFC', this is a book about a period at the football team I support through the eyes of the players. It was released on November 9th 2020. My current role is as a Digital Journalist at ManchesterWorld. During this time I have written many lifestyle and feature articles including gig reviews, travel pieces and opinion articles
