Biography
Patrick Svitek is a reporter for the Texas Tribune in Austin, Texas. He covers state politics, the Texas Legislature and the role of Texas in the 2016 presidential race. Svitek previously worked in the Austin bureau of the Houston Chronicle, where he also covered politics. Svitek graduated in 2014 from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism. Svitek has interned for The Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Huffington Post in Washington, D.C., and the Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He has also worked part-time for the Chicago Tribune and Journal Gazette. Before graduating, Svitek served six terms on the editorial board of The Daily Northwestern, including twice as City editor and twice as a managing editor. He was editor in chief of the 2013 summer edition. Svitek grew up in Newtown, Connecticut, and Fort Wayne. He is currently based in Austin.
