Biography
Having recently finished my BJTC accredited BA Journalism course, I am now working as a freelance journalist. I have produced multimedia news and feature stories for print, online, radio and TV. I have undergone voice training for radio and TV broadcast - I have also received training in media law and court reporting. I am currently working with The Borgen Project, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that works to make global poverty a priority for US and UK legislation. I am producing articles that cover topics such as human trafficking and women's rights in developing countries. As part of my work with The Borgen Project, I am also doing a lot of campaigning and fundraising. I have written fundraising letters, and I have an online donations page. I am also emailing my MP to promote the ODA/Overseas Aid. I have also worked for BBC Newsnight, on an investigation into ambulance waiting times. This involved collecting data about how long patients were waiting in ambulances to be taken into A+E, recording ambulance queues for b-roll, and speaking to frustrated members of the public. I have also written for the Smiley Movement (Smiley News) and Irish Tech News. Smiley News focuses on positive news stories, including topics such as NGOs, charities, individuals doing good things for others, and environmental successes. Irish Tech News focuses on green tech, business and the environment. I wrote about issues such as conditions along the coffee belt, carbon capture, and the need for bees. I also gained editorial experience, editing other people's copy and audio for their podcasts.
