Biography
For the past three decades award-winning journalist and consultant, Robyn Foyster, has been shaping the female narrative and elevating the profile of women across the globe. A passionate storyteller and gifted editor, Robyn’s astute understanding of the media landscape and multi-platform digital experience has enabled her to successfully launch and lead several brands, including her own eponymous media and tech business. As the first (and only) person to edit and publish Australia’s three biggest flagship magazines - The Australian Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day and New Idea – evidence of Robyn’s influence on the local and international publishing industry continues to be seen today. Her websites Women Love Tech, The Carousel and Game Changers celebrate women professionally and personally, and she is a vocal advocate for women working in STEM industries. Robyn’s signature brand of informed, empathetic and progressive journalism was shaped at an early age. Raised on a horse stud farm in Mudgee, she was appointed the nation’s first female racing reporter at age 22 before relocating to London’s iconic Fleet Street, writing front-page stories exploring racism and corruption for Today. In the years since she has helmed some of Australia’s most successful and prestigious titles as Group Publisher of Bauer and head of Hearst’s Australian outpost, and was voted one of B&T's 30 ‘Most Powerful Women In Media’ at the Women in Media Awards. Her influence, customer-centric approach to brand building and talent for creating new products, revenue streams, and driving organisational change in the wake of technological and digital disruption make Robyn one of Australia’s most respected industry voices. Harnessing her experience, she launched the thought leadership agency, InProfile in 2020 – assisting executives and entrepreneurs to craft targeted and impactful messaging, campaigns and conversations. Robyn has used her profile to champion issues close to her heart, such as diversity and opportunity for women in business, and she has served as an ambassador for the National Breast Cancer Foundation for over a decade. Her commercial acumen and innovative mindset have seen her placed on the 2019 Women’s Advisory Committee for Australia’s largest technology events business, CEBIT, appear as a Telstra Business Awards judge and Taronga Zoo Hatch Accelerator mentor.
