Biography

in 2001, Ndlovu got a learnership from the Sunday Tribune to be part of the Tribune eZethu News, a supplement of the Sunday Tribune which was aimed at township readership. Among the six of them he was chosen to be the photographer of the supplement. His photographic career was launched in Durban in 2001 when he was given a point and shoot camera by the former Editor of the Sunday Tribune Peter Davis who only showed him where to press to take a photograph and told him to get close to the subject. It was the first time touching a camera and he had to cover the South African Communist Party (SACP) Rally at Umlazi Tehuis Stadium, north of Durban. Ndlovu came bad with impressive images and the editor formally gave him the responsibility to be a photographer of the supplement and that was the beginning of his career. He continued working for the Sunday Tribune supplement which was under Independent Newspapers till he was given a permanent position to join the group's photographic team. Since then Ndlovu has worked for numerous media houses in South Africa including freelancing for Reuters, AFP & EPA. Ndlovu possesses a Professional Diploma in Photography and a diploma in Cost and Management Accounting. Ndlovu is now a photojournalist at Sunday Times in South Africa. Ndlovu was awarded the SADC Media Awards in 2021 for his beach soccer photo essay. He was announced as the fifth winner at www.wortimbild.at International Photo Competition Dealing with Literature. His image of a Covid patient being escorted to the bathroom was selected to be exhibited in Blank Wall Gallery from 21 January until 2 February 2022 at the exhibition titled “Life in the Pandemic”.
