Biography

Currently, an investigative reporter for the Orange County Register and Southern California News Group. My successful career has also included stints at newspapers in Utah, Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia. I have covered everything from natural disasters, plane crashes, crooked cops, politics, and features and have provided readers an eyewitness, award winning account of the execution of a death row inmate. My writing has been honored by the LA Press Club, California News Publishers Association, Orange County Press Club, Best of the West, Colorado Press Association, the Society of Professional Journalists, North Carolina Press Association,Utah Press Association and the Associated Press. In 2004 while working in Colorado, I beat out reporters from five other states to win a prestigious Katie Award from the Press Club of Dallas for a feature story about a UFO investigator. I've also received the O. Henry Award- the top feature writing honor for small dailies in North Carolina - from the North Carolina Associated Press News Council - for a lengthy narrative detailing the brutal home invasion slaying of a nurse. In 2019, I received first place honors for investigative reporting and public service journalism from the LA Press Club and California News Publisher's Association for a project examining years of sexual abuse coverup in the Redlands Unified School District. My articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times and Rocky Mountain News, San Jose Mercury News and others.
