Biography

I specialize in helping established consumer-facing brands modernize their marketing strategies. I identify the goals of the organization and weave different marketing tactics into a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. I not only provide the vision, but also the hands-on skills needed to execute that vision. My passion is working with artisans. For 25 years, my work has enabled me to serve a wide range of artists and entertainers, from musicians and comedians to chefs and mixologists to event producers and thought leaders. Over the years, my clients have included radio and television stations, beer and liquor brands, major record labels and concert venues, museums and universities, and tourism boards and non-profit organizations. I relish the opportunity to coach and mentor rising talent. Coming from a family of teachers, I love helping people develop their skillset. I have trained young media professionals, some of whom became record label presidents, vice-presidents of programming, and on-air personalities in major markets including New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. I speak regularly about marketing strategy at industry conferences like the NAB Show, Podcast Movement, and the Nielsen Audio Client Conference. I publish a weekly blog and host two podcasts about digital marketing strategy. I also host a podcast about the Detroit arts and entertainment scene, and have produced branded podcasts for clients such as the Detroit Historical Society and the Detroit Phoenix Center. These days, consumer-facing brands have more marketing tools available to them than ever before — from digital channels like social media, mobile apps, and podcasting to traditional tactics like public relations, direct mail, and live events. It’s easy to get buried by all the different options, especially when different brands require different strategies.
