Biography

I’m a columnist for the Deccan Herald, where I report on topics of my expertise and interest, ranging from: the environment, refugee resettlement, education of refugee children, relationship culture, science/ technology, and mental health. I hold a PhD in Psychology and Human Development from the University of Chicago and an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University. My most recent book is called Displaced: Refugees, Trauma, and Integration Within Nations (Oxford University Press, 2024). I strive to understand issues deeply through reporting first-hand lived experiences of people, families, and communities. My work is impartial and data-driven, informed by cutting-edge science and best practices within the field of psychological science. In my writings I aim to disassemble jargon, concepts and experiences to make them broadly accessible.
