Biography

Shalom Esene is a writer with works appearing in Lolwe, Isele Magazine, Black Ballad, and elsewhere. She was awarded AMAKA Studio’s 2023 creator grant, and emerged first runner-up in the Abebi Inaugural Award in Afro-Nonfiction. A recipient of the Adventures 2024 Writing Fellowship and a culture journalist with OkayAfrica, she was raised in Lagos and is studying English and Literary Studies at the Federal University of Uyo, Nigeria.
