Biography

Shruthi Nair is a journalist currently based out of the Middle East. She started her career in journalism at the age of 20 with Times of Oman and became a part of a 3 member team (which eventually grew multifold) that started Times TV, the country’s only online television platform. During her time in Oman, she was credited to have changed the new media landscape, being the face of the country’s largest daily. When cyclone Mekunu struck Salalah, she was the only English journalist to cover the disaster from the eye of the storm (literally) that reached millions of audiences worldwide. She was subsequently interviewed by BBC World and Sky News for the exclusive coverage. She even landed a Ted Talk to her credit to share her achievements in Muscat as a visual media storyteller. She moved to Dubai in 2018 to join Arabian Business as the video reporter and was soon promoted to the Head of Video Content for 7 of the GCC’s biggest B2B magazine titles in 2019. As an adherent of new media, she’s launched five online shows for Arabian Business and multiple series for other titles and won multiple awards for the online debate show ‘Crossfire’ the she produced and hosted. She the took on the role as executive editor of Images RetailME, a B2B retail news publication and managed the monthly magazine and the publication’s digital channels, along with industry and trade events organised by the publication. Currently, she is the multimedia editor of AGBI, a London-HQed business news publication that caters to MENA consumers. She is in-charge of all things video and audio and is constantly looking for ways to tell engaging business stories to a varied and diverse set of audience in a highly competitive media landscape.
