Tyler Morning Telegraph

The Tyler Morning Telegraph is a daily newspaper based in Tyler, Texas. The newspaper began publishing weekly in 1877 as the Weekly Courier. In 1882, the publication frequency was increased to daily and the name was changed to the Daily Courier. In 1906, the Daily Courier and the Weekly Times consolidated into The Tyler Courier-Times. In 1910, the newspaper sold to the Butler family who owned the company for 108 years. The Tyler Morning Telegraph, which featured expanded coverage of East Texas cities, debuted Nov. 14, 1929 under the leadership of the Butler family. The Courier-Times continued to publish in the afternoons and focused on Tyler news for subscribers within the city limits. On Oct. 31, 1995, the company ended publication of its afternoon newspaper. Today the Tyler Morning Telegraph is part of a larger family owned media company named M. Roberts Media which is owned by members of the Morris Roberts family.
