The Clinton County Leader

Founded in 1895, The Clinton County Leader has been the constant news source for Clinton County for more than 120 years. Combining and continuing the traditions of the Plattsburg Leader, Lathrop Optimist, Lathrop and Gower Rural Reporter, and The Clinton County Democrat, The Leader has a newspaper lineage that dates back to the Civil War. We strive to continue our service to the community - "Covering Clinton County Like Dew!" Since 2008, The Clinton County Leader has won more than 100 awards from the Missouri Press Association, including three top awards – Missouri's Class 1 Weekly Gold Medal winner in 2013 and 2014, and the Missouri Class 1 General Excellence Award winner in 2017. We've won dozens of awards for our news coverage, feature writing and photography alone, bringing Clinton County readers some of the best coverage in the state. The Leader's sports and school coverage is the centerpiece of its reporting, including award-winning coverage of Plattsburg, Lathrop and East Buchanan athletics. We're blessed with talented, driven student-athletes, and we're happy to share their achievements – both in and out of the classroom – with local readers.
