Biography

I'm an Illinois native living and reporting in the Queen City of the Ozarks. As the health and public policy reporter at the Springfield News-Leader, I'm interested in how where we're from and where we live impacts the way we receive health care, particularly that for mental health and chronic illnesses. Prior to Springfield, I was a digital editor for the North Platte Telegraph, located in west-central Nebraska. I covered the COVID-19 pandemic there, as well as its aftermath, and the local hospital and health department. At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I was the copy chief for the Daily Illini, the independent student newspaper, and interned with the public affairs department for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications.
