Biography

One of the things I've become more aware of as I've grown up throughout the years is the importance of community, of people. As a child it was the people in my immediate vicinity, but as I outgrew the confines of my small hometown it became the people who shared my experiences, my values. Finding those people and making those connections that would last despite geographical differences has been one of the great joys of my life, and is why I ultimately fell in love with writing and reporting. I started out as a web content intern at Oregon State University, using my love of connection to interact with unique and interesting alumni, professors and students and help tell their stories. After graduating in 2015, that's when I decided to move into the realm of journalism, starting out my career as a part time sports and features writer for a monthly periodical. Over time that need to connect with new people, hear and tell new stories, led me to become a sports reporter Pamplin Media, head to Syracuse University to earn my Master's in Magazine, Newspaper and Online Journalism, and continue seeking out interesting experiences. It's served me well as a reporter and editor, as well as a human being. Connecting over those shared experiences and values, be it desire to see environmental and social justice reform, talk about the latest Star Wars film or television show dropping, or finding the nuance in a 3-point buzzer beater, is always something I strive for. I look forward to making a connection with you, be it professionally or otherwise, and welcome a message.
