I’m a fact checker, journalist and editor based in Ottawa. I’ve fact-checked articles for The Walrus, Toronto Life, Canada’s History and other magazines, as well as Phoenixed, an award-winning investigative podcast about Canada’s federal payroll disaster. I write arts and culture stories about queer and trans communities for outlets such as Maclean’s, Broadview and This. In my day jobs, I’m a co-ordinator at the Canadian media development organization Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) and a contributing editor at the LGBTQ2S+ magazine Xtra. I specialize in storytelling that spotlights care, creativity and innovation in LGBTQ2S+ and racialized communities. Whether I’m reviewing a documentary about the legacy of queer and trans activism in Canada or unpacking the latest anti-trans buzzword, my reporting provides deeper social and historical context and dispels misinformation about marginalized people.

Journalists for Human Rights

Journalists for Human Rights (JHR) is a Toronto-based non-profit organization and Canada’s largest international media development group, established in 2002. JHR operates in over 29 countries, focusing on empowering journalists to report on human rights and governance issues. The organization aims to foster accountability, transparency, and democratic processes through ethical journalism. JHR's mission includes training journalists, media outlets, and civil society organizations to amplify human rights narratives.
