Biography
When she’s not saving Hyrule or traveling to far away lands via the wonderfully fragrant pages of novels, Ohio University junior journalism student Trista Thurston can be found doing any multitude of random activities. She is the current general manager of AVW Productions, where she oversees her fellow executive board members and the 10 shows AVW has to offer. She was the producer of Tech Heads for one year, an on-campus media production house part of AVW Productions that features written pieces, podcasts, and videos. It was established in the fall of 2008. She can also be found writing and editing content for this wonderful production she's gotten herself engrossed in. She has been selected as a 'Fresh Face' at the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism's Scripps Showcase publication, which highlights freshman students that have done something extraordinary, cool, or otherwise unique. She was selected as the recipient of the 2013 installment of the Cortland Anderson Memorial Scholarship within the journalism school, and the 2014 Edward J. Martin Memorial Scholarship. She obtained an internship within the news department of her local broadcast outlet, AVC Communications, over winter break her freshman year of college. AVC Communications hosts over 6 different unique radio stations that she was able to work with on a very personal level. Trista interned at The Daily Jeffersonian the summer of 2013 as their sole videographer. She edited and shot several videos herself while shadowing reporters and photographers. In the summer of 2014, she worked at the Observer-Reporter in Washington, PA as a multimedia intern. This position had her working with social media extensively, as well as doing photography, videography and writing. Trista was on the Dean's List for the Scripps College of Communications both fall and spring semester of her freshman year and sophomore years, an admirable feat for everything on her plate. As the leader of a 40+ crew, Trista finds herself insanely busy. She still has time to partake in her favorite hobbies, though.
