Vanderbilt Hustler

The Vanderbilt Hustler, known as The Hustler, is the primary student newspaper at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Established in 1888, it is the oldest continuously published student newspaper in the state. The publication became student-run in 1917 and transitioned to a fully digital format in 2016. The Hustler offers comprehensive news coverage of university-related topics, including academic, administrative, and campus safety issues. It features various sections such as News, Life, Opinion, Sports, and Podcasts, along with a magazine called The Side Hustle that includes in-depth articles. The newspaper serves the Vanderbilt community, including students, faculty, and alumni, and is overseen by Vanderbilt Student Communications, Inc. The current leadership includes Editor-in-Chief Barrie Barto and Managing Editor Rhea Patney, supported by a team of 37 staff writers.
