The Journal of Clinical Investigation

The Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI) is a peer-reviewed biomedical journal established in 1924 by the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI). It focuses on advancing the understanding of disease mechanisms and promoting translational research to improve clinical outcomes. The JCI was created to provide a platform for the rapid dissemination of clinical research, addressing publication delays that were common at the time. The journal publishes original articles, reviews, and commentaries on human pathophysiology, therapeutic interventions, and molecular mechanisms of disease. It offers open access to select content to facilitate the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice. The JCI also maintains an extensive archive that documents significant advances in medicine, including foundational work in endocrinology, immunology, and metabolism. Its primary audience includes physician-scientists, clinical researchers, academic institutions, and biomedical professionals engaged in translational medicine.
