Biography

My name is Ziyanda Yono, a qualified journalist, camera operator, video editor and film director. I graduated at Walter Sisulu University school of Journalism. I worked for Goblal news companies such as Reuters TV, where I was a news producer. I did a lot of news research for and script writing too. I was also a Multimedia Journalist for Eyewitness News/ 702 which had similar duties to that of Reuters. I also worked on the website and generating international content from media houses such as the Associated French Press(AFP) and CNN. Currently I do Freelance work with different media houses and private companies sometimes. I have worked on different film production including a documentary I directed titled, "What have we done wrong?" A film focusing on the prejudices, discrimination and massagany faced by LGBTQI student and employees in Higher learning institutions which is available on YouTube. My work can also be viewed on Google by searching my name and surname and selecting the media houses that I have done work for. I worked in projects like Bring back our girls campaign. We formed part of a Colloquium which was hosted by the Dept of Justice at the University of Free State concerning reviewing the country's legal system and suggesting amendments which may favor the LGBTQI as part of a diversed society. I was also the Chairperson of the Walter Sisulu University LGBTQI org.
